We are now setting up the 3rd workshop in our series to explore the standards for publishing Local Linked Data
As the group requested at the last LeGSB Workshop on Local Linked Data, we are now setting up the 3rd workshop in the series, where hopefully we will start to see how Linked Data adds value over the more traditional approaches to data publishing.
At this session we will focus on exploring the options for
- where and how to host council Linked Data
- how our linked data can be queried
- how our linked data can be linked to other similar data
- how our linked data can be contextualised by linking to other data
- how our linked data can be presented and visualised
Since the last workshop, which took council spending as a scenario, we have met with CIPFA and have agreed some activities with them to publish their expenditure categories (BVACOP) in a Linked Data Friendly form. CIPFA are also helping us with the definitions of the terms in the model that we worked up at the workshop. This should mean that by the time of the 3rd workshop, we will have some real linked data to work with as we consider how to publish it and get real value out of it.
The write-up of the last workshop, is here. We are currently preparing a revised version of this to incorporate the improvements to the model that CIPFA are helping us with.
If you would like to take part in this session, please send us an e-mail to info@legsb.gov.uk and also tell us when you might be available here , probably in Central London. We will then pick a date when we can get a balanced group together.
The LeGSB activities and workshops to explore the standards for Linked Data are now a part of the LGA led programme towards transparency of local data. This programme keeps us aligned with SOCITM, esd-Toolkit, Local Government Improvement and Development.
